  1. I would like to know if I can continue on supplements I am already taking ( adrenal support, etc.) during the gut thrive program?

    • You may, Gale. You'll just have to cross reference the neurological supplements (they are optional) in step 3 to make sure you are not doubling up on anything. Best, Christa

  2. He keeps talking about the 5 step program , but what are the 5 steps. How do I find out how to do the program? Did I miss something?

  3. This is good info but leaky gut may also be brought on by stress which not only impede immune function but often leads to a condition called pyroluria. This condition is a deficiency of B6 and zinc in which IDO enzyme is not functioning how it should be. It highjacks zinc and B6 and prevents conversion of tryptophan to serotonin. Chronic anxiety leads to this condition and depletes serotonin and this is why many antidepressants do not work as they don't address these deficiencies. I just learned about this condition through Sean Croxton's “Depression Sessions” and it is fascinating to me that no one talks much about it.

    • My take on “GUT THRIVE in 5” is it's a shotgun approach to wellness, avoiding all the nuance that can attribute to ill health and focusing on healing the gut. Stress is a generic term that includes anything that might be an insult to the body and that is a huge count of things.. e.g., emotional (social, spiritual, psychological,) environmental (water, air, noise) and food all contribute to stress in the body. I haven't taken the program so I don't know how far these issues are addressed but it does seem that food issues are… The foundation to health though is said to lay with the gut so I'm thinking this is a good place to start.

    • I too am being treated for pyroluria, with appropriate supplements, which seem to be working well. It's early days yet for me, but I think this is what's happening.
Watching these videos about managing leaky gut has me thinking that this is also what I need to do to support the management I have in place.
So, I'm very curious to find out how this all happens. There is only so much I can do via video presentations, so I need to find a practitioner who will give me individualised management.
My impression as to why Pyroluria is not discussed much is that there are many Drs who are not really prepared to ‘think outside the square', and are not really interested in other forms of medical practice such as naturopathy.

  4. Great explanations. Best I've heard to date and makes me want to get on the band wagon. Thanks for all your work to get the word out.

  5. I have been through the FDN (Functional Diagnostic Nutrition) program, then immediately after that another 6 month program with Dr. Noseworthy, a Functional Medicine Protocol which he assures me that my leaky gut is healed. This program is almost over. My Auto Immune Disease (Mucus Membrane Pemphigoid) is almost symptom free but my chronic constipation and my chronic insomnia are still very much present. Will your program help my 35 year chronic insomnia?
